Cantaloupe Carole

A perfect cantaloupe that is round to oval in shape with defined netting. Carole has thick flesh that is dark salmon in color. Carole has high yields and is tolerant to powdery mildew.

Being known for its rich flavor, delicious aroma, and minimal number of calories has made Cantaloupe one of the most popular types of melon in the United States.  Tack on the fact that it is loaded with Vitamin C and you know you have found a winning combination.   Cantaloupes range in color from orange and salmon to yellow and have a soft juicy texture.  When ripe the rinds change color from green to tan or yellow between the skin netting.   Pick Cantaloupe when the stem separates easily near the point of attachment

Days To Maturity: 80-90 days (estimated)

Yield: 100 fruits/100 foot row; 5-7 fruits per vine (estimated)

How To Grow: Plant in full sun.

Spacing: Plant 18″ apart in 60″ rows.

Height: Grows 6″ to 8″ tall.

Outstanding Features: Carole Cantaloupes are one of the sweetest melons you can find, and the seeds of this fruit are also edible.  Charley thinks this is the best cantaloupe that he has tasted.

Tips: These melons are very tender and should be planted after the last chance of frost. Cantaloupe is a warm-season crop that grows best at an average air temperature of 65 F to 75 F. Cantaloupes also require regular watering.
